These textiles played an exceptional role in the Andean world. They were not only taken for domestic use, but also for ritual and magic purposes, and to pay for services offered and tributes. For that reason even nowadays Quechua women of several provinces of Cuzco are very skilful weavers. Their expert hands make from alpaca or sheep wool dyed with vegetal inks, a great variety of fabrics used by women to carry their babies or different products. The Sunday fairs at Pisac and Chincheros are traditional places for trading these products.
