Chulucanas Pottery

The origin of this ceramics comes from the Vicus culture (500 A.D.), inherited by the Vicus and Tallanes potters who in times of the phenomena of el Niño current had to emigrate to the slopes of the Vicus hill, where the Chulucanas village is situated. (in the northern part of Peru). The potters´ families recovered the techniques to create the traditional and contemporaneous ceramics through their games with the mud. At present, not only new folk techniques have been developed but also the "negative" technique has become famous with amazing sales in the USA and several European countries. We have a great variety of elegant designs available!
