This artcraft is of contemporary origin. It consists of textiles with applications of previously elaborated figures. They represent scenes from everyday life or from traditional festivities. The representations of people, animals, and plants sewn on the textile matrix provide a tri-dimensional effect to the artwork. This handwork was rapidly incorporated to the female handicraft labor – particularly migrants from the Andean regions – that live on the periphery of Lima in places such as Pamplona Alta. With this artwork they have found a way of expressing their artistic stance.
